Go Back
By Season 3 of SNL, the original cast had remained pretty consistent throughout, and the show had major progress of establishing its formula. A majority of the original cast remained, and new addition Bill Murray had found his place in the roster with his own recurring sketch characters. Steve Martin and Buck Henry making frequent appearances, the show was able to deliver week in and week out.
On top of that, notable alumnus like Chevy Chase became the first returning cast member to host the show.
However, some sketches went on for too long, or just keep dragging. The standup portions were kinda boring, and I still fucking hate Gary Weis.
DADDY STEVE IS BACK!!!
Ok, new season, some changes. Weekend Update finally makes a change with Co-Anchors of Jane Curtin AND Dan Aykroyd. Sketches are more expressive, suggestive, and THERE'S NO MORE GARY WEIS FILMS WE'RE WINNING!!!!!!
Favorite Sketches:
Oh no, not Gary... ANYTHING BUT GARY. NOOOOOO-
Meh, not a lot to say about this one.
Favorite Sketches:
They got the dude who founded the fucking Playboy Magazine.
This was a alright episode, lots of sexual jokes.
Favorite Sketches:
The host did not like SNL.
Coneheads are back (didn't really like this one tbh), that samurai is back, and OH MY GOD IT'S THE KILLER BEES!
The little bit of Charles judging every sketch makes me laugh a little.
Favorite Sketches:
"I may be blind, but I'm certainly not stupid"
This episode was great, I love the blind jokes.
Favorite Sketches:
We got a Five-Timer here!
The samurai is dead, Buck kills a fucking baby, and Mr. Mike starts a rat cult.
Favorite Sketches:
Women...
This was a snoozer, nothing I could say, everything was such a blur.
Favorite Sketches:
Ain't she old.
Spillman was the winner of the "Anyone Can Host the Saturday Night Show" contest and was notable for being the first and, as of now, only non-celebrity host. This 80-year-old geezer still got it. Sketches have lots of twists and turns, it's pretty complex.
Favorite Sketches:
STEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This man just never misses, no words.
Favorite Sketches:
I don't know, shits boring. Ending was good though.
Favorite Sketches:
No fucking way. Just no fucking way.
Favorite Sketches:
He did it.
Some are funny, some aren't. I think O.J.'s acting is great, especially from his deep voice.
Favorite Sketches:
Bro wasn't even in any of these sketches. At least Paul Simon could do a few.
Favorite Sketches:
"Man it's good to be back..."
Good to be back? You hosted before? Eddie Money sounds good, how come I've never heard of this man?
Favorite Sketches:
"Jane, you ignorant slut!"
Dr. Jekyll and Mister Rogers would be a horror movie I would watch.
Favorite Sketches:
Who? Oh, he's british.
Favorite Sketches:
Y'know, I'm gonna get off topic here. Sketches were short as hell in the first season, long as hell in the second. Now it's steady, yet so out of order. Sometimes I don't even know if the sketch ended.
Anyway, some sketches were kinda annoying, such as La Dolce Gilda. However, the new Point, Counter-Point gag in Weekend Update is funny as shit. I barely saw the host in this episode.
Favorite Sketches:
Could this be the end of The Festrunk Brothers???
Was a hit or miss. (I'm probably gonna say that a lot later on)
Favorite Sketches:
Oh hey, it's the guy from Close Encounters of the Third Kind (I never watched that movie)
This episode went by pretty fast, especially in pacing. However, I think the Nick Springs sketch went on for too long, it's just dragging it. There's always that one sketch that just goes on for too long. Jimmy Buffet was a musical guest, which was pretty cool.
Favorite Sketches:
Monologue was funny. I think the Nerds sketches are getting old, but the Samurai sketches are a whole other story. I love the dynamic of Buck Henry and Futaba in their sketches. I don't know how they keep making it work for such a simple sketch. The Franken and Davis Show proves people really hate gay people back then.
