Overall Season Review -

Season 9 is pretty stable from what I've seen. The few major setbacks are obviously with Eddie Murphy departing from the show, but new cast members like Jim Belushi have a lot of potential.

Overall Rating - 5.9/10

S9 Ep1 - Host: Brandon Tartikoff

October 8, 1983

"Isn't it ironic? My last true friends: two Jews, a woman, a black, and a crippled."
- James Watt (Joe Piscopo)

If you know a little history about this network, he practically saved their ass.

Not bad for a season opener.

I didn't really like much of these sketches, but the performances did make up for it.

Honestly can't wait to see how Jim Belushi can live up to his brother, and my god this is a great host.

S9 Ep6 - Host: Jerry Lewis

S9 Ep7 - Host: The Smothers Brothers

December 3, 1983

It's fun to see the audience predict the diseases he made up, but it also means that it's not funny anymore.

S9 Ep8 - Host: Flip Wilson

December 10, 1983

Why is it whenever a black person is hosting, the show starts to either be extremely edgy, or pretty racist.

S9 Ep10 - Host: Michael Palin & Mary Palin

Straight back-to-back of fine comedy, I love the British. Hate to see Brad Hall leave Saturday Night News tho, he was slowly becoming a good anchor.

S9 Ep11 - Host: Don Rickles

January 28, 1984

This host is so ecstatic, always trying to break character with everyone. I have a feeling he improvised the entire Saturday Night News segment.

S9 Ep15 - Host: Billy Crystal

March 17, 1984

This host seems pretty cool, wonder if he'll be a cast member soon. Too bad I won't see him for another 9 years. They also just put anybody as a guest anchor bro.

S9 Ep16 - Host: Michael Douglas

Wait, this one was actually kinda entertaining, but I don't mean that in a sense of it was funny, it was just more engaging.

You know your political career is going extremely downhill once you start appearing on SNL instead of being impersonated.

FIVE GUEST HOSTS???

This is probably one of the biggest episodes I've seen on SNL since the 100th episode, insane way to end the season.
